Ten years ago, a number of projects in my life had come to their natural ends. I didn’t know what to do next.

So I went into a basement in Brooklyn and founded a SECRET SOCIETY.

I shared many secrets there, and I revealed many truths that had been hidden, even to myself.

The audience kept those secrets. Because they were wonderful.

But I blabbed some of them later on stage and in books and thus found a new path.

“Write what you know,” goes the old saying. 

But the hard part is knowing what you know.

And I learned that facing the peril of humans waiting for you to speak to them, secretly, in a basement, is very helpful in getting your brain to unlock its mysteries. 

Eventually SECRET SOCIETY came to its own natural end, as have several other projects. And once again, I do not know what to do next. 

And so I am reconvening the SECRET SOCIETY. This time here, in the exalted, windowless, secret room of your inbox.

The internet is a dangerous place, but frankly less of a fire hazard than that basement.

You can join us if you want.  There is a membership fee.

I have learned that if you pay me a little money, and you are there, I tend to actually write and make things for you.   

Otherwise I will just read reddit and stare into space.  

It’s better when you’re there

The dues are $7 per month. Because 7 is a powerful number associated with knowledge and mystery. Obviously.

I will not tell you what you will receive in return. It’s secret.

But I can write words here, and offer sounds and pictures, and soon: more. And I look forward to sharing all these things with you in secret.

That said, you do not have to join.

If you just want to sit on the stairs (marked F in the diagram above), I will still come to the door (marked G) and share public messages of usefulness and diversion.
